SKI USA - Copper Mountain

The Resort

Renowned for having probably the best ski area in Colorado, Copper Mountain is the ideal resort to learn and progressive, offering everything you will need for the ski holiday of a lifetime. Originally a purpose built resort, Copper has undergone a multi-million dollar transformation into a true alpine village, complete with a fantastic car free resort centre with new traditional stone and wood buildings and an impressive range of après ski facilities. Impressive natural snowfall statistics backed up by comprehensive snowmaking facilities ensure the slopes of Copper are always perfect. This, coupled with an excellent ski-school and modern lift network, make Copper one of the most popular ski resorts in Colorado.

The Skiing

With over 2400 acres of skiing Copper Mountain is one of the largest ski areas in the USA and nature decided to be kind to skiers with a layout offering perfect terrain and snow conditions all season long. With gentle, sloping runs like Carefree and Scooter on the Western side of the mountain, ideal for beginners and early intermediates who will soon be heading East towards the steeper slopes where a huge choice of long green and blue runs is on offer, with Timber Ridge being a prime example of excellent confidence building cruising run.
For the more advanced the ‘back side’ bowls are the place to go. The Wild Copper, Resolution & Spaulding Bowls offering some of the best tree and bump run skiing in Colorado, in particular the double black diamond Fremont Glades and Sawtooth runs.

Snowboarding - Copper's main terrain park, located on the Loverly trail accessed by the American Flyer lift, has three distinct lines that run through it: On the left, a beginner track with mini-kickers and small rails allow riders to learn the basics before moving on to the bigger lines. In the centre, medium-sized kickers and jumps enable skiers and riders to improve gradually. And on the right, a new shack jib, giant tabletops, hip features and an 8 foot wall ride set atop a 17 foot Quarter pipe offer potential for as much air as riders can handle. Halfway through the park, a rail section boasts a variety of flat (check out our 100-footer!), kinked and rainbow rails leading into Copper's award-winning superpipe. Sprinkled throughout the park are a number of additional features of varying sizes and degrees of difficulty, all designed for optimum flow.

Superpipe - At the end of the park riders will find Copper's Superpipe - 430 feet long with 17-foot-high walls set on a 19-degree pitch. The resort a has a Super Pipe Dragon and snowcat dedicated for use in the pipe and terrain parks only, allowing for nightly grooming if needed. Known for its consistent conditions - especially early season - it's simply one of the best-maintained pipes in Colorado.
