SKI USA - Heavenly

The Resort
Located over 900 metres above majestic Lake Tahoe, Heavenly is also found at the top of the list entitled "Ski Resorts With A Real Difference". The powerful stop and stare views of spectacular Lake Tahoe combine with an unbeatable weather record that provides 277 days of sunshine each year and over 900cm of annual snowfall to produce a ski resort that is truly unbeatable. Few ski resorts match Heavenly for scenic beauty, expansive network of lifts, terrain, trails and snowmaking. With access to mid mountain from mid-town via the high-speed gondola, skiing and riding the Lake Tahoe's largest resort has never been easier.

The Skiing

The state of the art lift system ensures that queuing is virtually a thing of the past at Heavenly meaning skier's can get on with skiing. Beginners will find the well-groomed nursery slopes by the 'Pioneer' and 'Patsy's Groove' drag lifts a great starting point before heading out to explore 'Mombo Meadows'. Intermediate skier's can find great cruising around the mountain on both sides of the California / Nevada state line. The famous 'Ridge Run' offers stunning views over the valley as well as a 'top-to-bottom' ski run. As confidence grows the fast blues around the Dipper Express and Galaxy lifts offer high speed cruising, perfect for honing new learnt skills. For the more adventurous Heavenly offers some of the most testing mogul and powder skiing in the USA. The Milkyway bowl and Mott's Canyon will guarantee a challenge for every skier.
Heavenly offers one of the largest snowmaking systems in the world and most certainly, the largest in the West. While the Tahoe region receives more snow than any other region in ski country, including both Colorado and Utah, our snowmaking crews make an average of 120 inches of additional snow each season. There are several benefits to machine-made snow besides a guaranteed full season of skiing. If groomed properly, machine-made snow will maintain its consistency longer. Snowmaking also allows us to re-surface trails on those rare occasions when we go too long without natural snow. Finally, machine-made snow also provides a good early season base for the 300+ inches of natural snow that the resort receives each year.

Après Ski

The new alpine village features vast array of eclectic speciality boutiques, intimate dining locales, a multitude of high-quality lodging and much more with a state-of-the-art transit centre, multi-plex movie theatre and outdoor ice skating rink. Keeping teenagers entertained is easy with the arcades of mythic proportions, recreation centres, and bowling alleys as well as a host of other activities. If you don't get enough of the snow during the day then you could try snow tubing, snowshoeing, or a horse drawn sleigh ride. Alternatively, simply relax in one of the many hot springs. You certainly should not miss a cruise on one of Lake Tahoe paddle steamers.
